Webmaster note: I always try to verify 'this stuff' that
interests me or 'tickles my fancy' before I post it - particularly those
received via e-mail or discovered somewhere on the Internet. However, I may
have been too exuberant to share an item and posted it without checking. I
therefore advise you to verify these things for yourself and NOT simply
accept them just because they are composed of words that appear in
print on your computer screen (checking things out is is a good habit to develop whenever
reading something - particularly if it sounds good too good to be true but agrees with your
personal philosophies or beliefs). With that in mind, here are a couple of
sites I visit that specialize in trying to validate stories and
rumors. HOWEVER, please remember that everyone has their own built-in
biases and prejudices so although the people running these sites are
probably honest and doing their best to report the facts as they see them -
McDermott's law #3 does apply here, which is "Objective evaluation is a
subjective process". You may therefore have to visit several different
sites and even do some Google research of your own before finally deciding
what to believe.
